Random Record Find of the Day
Rechenzentrum, Director’s Cut. I bought this from Earwax Records in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, last week, since everything I’d heard on Mille Plateaux was good, I liked the cover, and records in the States are really, really cheap. It’s a beautiful blend of minimal techno and glitchy soundscapes, an integrated album rather than a set of tracks, easily the find of my record hunting amidst the Republican hoo-haa in NYC, speaking of which…
New York Record Stores of the Day
The best I found were Earwax, Other Music, Etherea and Second Hand Rose’s (can’t find a suitable website for this one; it’s on 525 6th Ave at 14th St and is jam-packed with jazz and classical records especially; I found two early Philip Glass records and they had stacks of old Keith Jarrett as well).
