Sound and Fury
Sydney boasts an utter dearth of record stores stocking anything for anyone whose brain hasn’t yet been blasted away by dancefloor four-four. So thank God for whoever is behind Sound and Fury, the new record store just off Taylor Square. I walked out the other night with Autechre’s classic Confield and the two recently pressed Mono records, One More Step and You Die and New York Soundtracks (the remix album featuring DJ Olive amongst others). Ample testament to the stock in there—a great range of experimental electronica to post-rock and everything in between. The name is taken from the Faulkner novel of course, which is a nice touch. It’s always been frustrating to have to order from Boomkat, so let’s hope there are enough people in the shadows around Sydney to keep the place alive…
