Starry Night (excerpt) [MP3]

A minimalistic improvisation by:

Mazen Kerbaj (Trumpet)
The Israeli Air Force (Bombs)

Recorded by Mazen Kerbaj on the balcony of his flat in Beirut, on the night of 15th to 16th of July 2006. Via Microsound, MP3 hosting from Sound Transit. If you read one source while bombs continue to fall, let it be Mazen’s weblog.

One

Having seen Sonic Youth perform tonight at the Enmore Theatre, it is now clear to me that they are the greatest band that was, is, and ever will be.

Two

Lovely abstract field-recording-oriented mix just posted at the latest Audiobulb Records Bulbcast.

Three

That and much more found via the sensational (and until recently, far below my radar) microsound email list.

Four

I will soon be updating Radio for Empty Spaces with a dynamically generated schedule featuring automatic timezoning (at first it will automatically list everything in Sydney time; eventually will automatically list according to your time, wherever you are viewing it from). It became too much to try to keep track of all the daylight savings changes all around the world. Hopefully it’s been of some use nonetheless.

Anonymuncule.

A petty anonymous writer.

1867 SWINBURNE Let. 25 Dec. (1962) VI. 263, I have always found that these ‘anonymuncules’ vanish or collapse as soon as one attempts to set foot on them. a1869 C. READE in Swinburne Ess. & Stud. (1875) 3 Anonymuncules who go scribbling about. 1883 PROCTOR in Knowl. 25 May 313/2 Charles Reade is awfully hard on the criticasters and anonymuncules of the press.

[f. L. anonymous (see ANONYMOUS), after L. homunculus a little man.]
