Iraq: 100,000 Civilians Killed So Far

So reports the latest issue of the prestigious medical journal The Lancet, as reported by Nature. The story seems to only have made the International section of the Times, elicited one letter, and has since fallen off the web coverage. Even with the election on, that seems incredible—as the letter notes, percentage-wise that translates to 1.2 million Americans (as if the figure isn't large enough; as if we need to translate to American lives like we do to American dollars).
